Shake Shack had a very humble start as they had a single hot dog cart back in 2001 at New York City’s Madison Square Park. From there, it evolved to many more branches across the US and eventually branched out globally.
Given their global footprint, we wanted to look into whether Muslims sticking to a Halal diet can eat at shake shack. To do that, we reached out to them to find out if the food served at shake shack in the US and globally is Halal.
Is Shake Shack Halal?
Shake Shack informed us that it does not serve Halal meat in the United States. However, Beef burgers sold in the Middle East and Turkey is 100% Halal. Chicken burgers sold at Shake Shack in the UK, South Korea, Turkey and Middle East is Halal.
To answer this question we reached out to Shake Shack and asked them if there food was Halal in the US and internationally. For full transparency, here’s their response
Hi,
Thank you so much for reaching out to us. While the beef in our Middle East and Turkey Shacks is 100% halal, the beef in the U.S., U.K., Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong and Russia is not halal or kosher.
The chicken in the U.S., Russia, Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong is not halal or kosher. The chicken in the U.K. and South Korea is certified halal, however it is prepared in a facility and kitchen with pork present. The chicken at our Middle East and Turkey Shacks is 100% halal.
Let me know if there’s anything else I can help you with!
Thanks again,
